While you're sleeping, your website can still do the heavy lifting. Have you checked when enquiries come in, or wondered how they found you? It could be from a social post last week, while someone doom scrolled at 11pm. Or, someone comparing options on a Sunday morning. You might not even know it. There are three basic ways to add value to your website:
Boosting traffic
SEO keywords, image descriptions on photos, Social media posts, blogs, linking back to your website.Improving User Experience
Clear content, easy navigation, good site structure and good photos!Drive Conversions
Make it easy to buy, book or contact with clear calls-to-action.
The extra work that you put in outside your website, works for you long after it's posted. A blog post on a partnership website that links back to you = credible cross linking traffic. Those social media posts advertising your service = always add your website when appropriate so people can click!
Think outside the box.
What can you do to add value?
What can you do to maximise and add value to your website?
Partner up with a supplier to cross-promote with a blog?
Share you how/why story and link back to your website?
Promote a product in a social post and give them a link to get to it? Sometimes, because social stories are temporary, users can forget where they saw it - make it a post!
Update or add a Case Study/ Project page?
Do you need an SEO refresher?
Create a series of blogs?
> Think about your ideal audience. Who are you trying to reach? What problem do they need solved? How can you show them that you solved it?
>> Check out your competitors. Not to copy them, but to see what they do well, what they're missing or where you could do better.
Sleep work in action:
I got a 10pm enquiry come in from someone who had seen my work elsewhere months ago, they found me via a search - I was tucked up in bed and not thinking about work! It's a great example that your website just needs to be useful, updated and readily accessible when someone comes searching.
